There are two types of running shoes that most running shoe manufacturers make: neutral and stability shoes. In this post, I’m going to focus solely on neutral running shoes. Neutral running shoes are designed for runners who do not need any additional support with their running shoes.
If you’ve been running for any length of time, you know how important finding the right running shoe is to have a delightful run. The same can be said for being in the wrong shoe – it just makes running that much harder.

This post will outline the major shoe brands’ neutral shoes, all under 10 ounces as a guide to help you find a shoe that fits your needs. Remember, not everyone needs a neutral shoe; some of you will need a stability shoe, and that’s 100% okay.
After each description, you’ll be able to check out the shoe using the link attached.
Remember that these shoes are not racing shoes and are designed for everyday running, where you can and should be logging the bulk of your weekly mileage. For race days, you absolutely can use these shoes, but you could also use racing flats for even faster (but less supportive) running.
If you don’t know where to start in your running shoe buying process, I suggest you check out these posts and then come back to this one.

Summary
As you can see, there are so many different brands of running shoes (I can’t possibly even write about all of them) and it’s your job as a runner to try out the different brands of shoes and find the one that works for you.
Personally, I would do my due diligence and go to a specialty running store and try on the various shoes within the neutral category. Find the shoe that you’d be willing to be with for the next 3-5 months. I am a big fan of my local store, the Haddonfield Running Company, but your store will be just as useful to you. Use them as a resource for finding the right shoe for you.
