If there’s ever been a reason to drink red wine, this might be the answer we’re looking for: “Antioxidants in red wine called flavonoids have been shown to reduce the risk of heart disease by lowering LDL (bad cholesterol) levels and increasing the production of good cholesterol.”

This, according to Leta Shy, writing for the Women’s Running Magazine, suggests that a glass of red wine is perfectly acceptable for some out-of-this-world health benefits. If it works for the European Society of Cardiology, then it certainly works for us!


Why Now?

Carly and Marc have been working for years to make people healthy and happy through exercise. Now, it’s come to a great realization that not only do runners like to work out and get a huge puddle of sweat going, they also like to celebrate. And celebrating with a glass of red wine sounds absolutely amazing!

SJ Run Retreats and TrainwithMarc are teaming up to bring you this great event which includes some of our favorite things: running, strength training and red wine.

Working Out + Drinking Wine

Where: Iron Plow Vineyards – Columbus, NJ

When: Sunday, July 22, 2018

Time: 10 am to 12:30 pm

What’s it all about: We start with a Runner’s Bootcamp session (think planks, donkey kicks, and single leg deadlifts). Then we are off for a two-mile run through the vineyards and mixed terrain. Finally, we meet back at the winery for a well-deserved glass of wine!

Why? Because it’s RUN day FUN day SUNDAY! What’s better than getting your sweat on with a fun group of like-minded people and starting your day off with a scenic run and relaxation at a beautiful winery. (And if that isn’t convincing enough, there will be a few prizes too!)

    This sounds like a great event! Running and wine go together like, er, love an marriage. Or something like that! I’m actually an ambassador for a half marathon that rolls through wine country and has a tasting garden at the end. Perfect!
