LBI 18 Miler Success by Rachelle

We are still new working together, but I already see this as a very productive runner/coach relationship.  Rachelle is preparing for the Richmond Marathon, and so she set her trial run of the LBI 18 miler as a good tune up for the big day.

We had talked about easing into the race and getting faster as the miles clicked off.  It was a sound strategy for that long of a race and for still getting accustomed to working together.  We also wanted to have a dry run for how she plans to run the marathon – from what she eats, to what she wears.  We wanted an ideal dress rehearsal so that we know what we need to work on as we get closer to the Marathon.

Her time for 18 miles was 2:34:19 with a pace of 8:34. She finished 4th in her age group, 38th woman and 135 overall!

Results from the 18 miler can be found here.
