The question “What did you do this weekend” surely was asked to Allison this week and she’d have to reply with “ran a marathon. NBD.”
Allison has been gearing up for the Shamrock Virginia Beach Marathon for quite some time now. The only problem is, since i’ve “known” her (been reading her blog) she’s been constantly injured. Through knee surgery, an ankle injury, and a quad injury, nothing stopped her from making the most out of her situation.
You see, Allison is one tough chick. She is motivated, determined and one helluva hard worker. She digs her heels in and gets the job done. And that’s what makes her such a pleasure to work with.
So while she didn’t have an ideal marathon build up, she worked her tail off and found a way to get to the marathon start line in one piece (and some proverbial duct tape!!).
And off she went…
1:43 through the half marathon (7:53 pace). 2:23 through 18 miles. Past her lifetime highest mileage of 20 and straight to her lifetime goal of finishing a marathon.
Not only did she finish, she also qualified for THE BOSTON MARATHON in a speedy 3:31:15!!
While she rests up from the race, be sure to visit her race recap here.
And on a side note, she becomes my second marathoner to qualify for Boston (Carly Miller being the first)!
