It was another great weekend for TrainWithMarc runners in the great state of New York. Alex, Joe P and Emilio all ran in the Coogan’s Salsa, Blues, and Shamrocks 5K. While the weather wasn’t the most ideal (cold and windy), they still were able to put together very solid races!
Alex, while not feeling the greatest (read: lots of miles in his legs), came away with a big drop in time from this same course last year. This years time was under 16 minutes – about a 30 second improvement on the course. And while we expected slightly better times, we are both happy with his effort and know that when he freshens up, he’s going to light up the road! You can read about his progress here.
Joe also raced, and while he is in the middle of marathon training, he came through with a
decent race. His effort on a decent day and a flatter course would be considerably quicker. And when he’s sharp for his peak race, I have no doubt that he’ll run at his very best.
Lastly, January’s Runner of the Month ran his first race of 2013 and again came away with another PR. It never gets difficult to say this: it’s fun to watch my athletes set personal records. It’s safe to say that Emilio is progressing nicely using TrainWithMarc.
